Intro

Welcome to a night of movie magic with a hint of murder!

It is award night and Sagar Ali’s latest film, A Night to Remember, has swept the board for all the NAMI awards – the most prestigious international awards, recognized globally. The movie won Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director and Best Screenplay. Sadly, Sagar Ali’s award was accepted posthumously by his friend Sasha, as he was killed in a driving accident the night before.

Despite the note of sadness, the celebrations are in full swing at the NAMI award after party – an exclusive gathering of our finest. It’s a party where deals are expected to be cut for future productions, and everyone is set to have a blast.

But is there anything suspicious about Sagar Ali’s death? I guess you’ll find out.

Cast List

Our cast list is as fine as it gets! Among the invitees are:

Marilynn Monray – a young, up and coming actor, and the star of A Night to Remember. Marilynn won over critics when playing Kendall, the victim’s partner. This was her first major role in a commercial film.

Ash d’Lessey – A Night to Remember’s director and winner of the Best Director award in this year’s NAMI

Arden Chase – an infamous detective among celebrities, well known to the movie community

Rayna Ru – Rayna works for a small independent movie financier but is looking to break into acting

Mel Cutter – Mel is the author of “Cutter’s Comments”, a notoriously critical column in the Movie Magic newspaper. In the column, Mel described A Night to Remember as “limp and tired” and accused Sagar Ali of “having all the charisma of a fishbowl”. Mel is a regular feature at post-award parties

Eddie Mountain – Eddie is a movie agent who also does a lot of charity work

Tara Fallon – Tara has worked in over 100 movies where she played extras or character roles. In A Night to Remember, Tara played “Hatch”, a bodyguard

Akira Simone – One of A Night to Remember’s co-producers, and is keen to make more blockbusters

Juhi Milan – Manager of Collingwood hotel, where A Night to Remember’s after party is taking place. Six years ago, Juhi was accused of a fire that burned down three sound stages

Viola Moon – Viola is one of the most prolific screenwriters and won a NAMI for A Night to Remember

Evrim Inad – Bit part actor with a minor role in A Night to Remember. Evrim also works at the Blossom Tree restaurant

Charithra Khan – Charithra played “Charlotte Primley”, A Night to Remember’s British villain

Ariya Starn – Ariya has moved across the seas to become a movie star

Lily Rankin – Lily is a character actor who recently appeared in Davy Jones Locker as a villain – as per usual

Bobby Allen – Bobby is an entertainer of the old school and can dance, act and sing. However, Bobby’s career is in decline

Les Titan – Les is a mesmerist whose clients have included Mel Cutter and Charithra

Val Patel – Val both acts and produces. Val was one of A Night to Remember’s co-producers

Sasha Pierce – Sasha is a co-producer of A Night to Remember and one of Sagar Ali’s closest friends

Lou Egan – A respected film director. Lou was the original director of A Night to Remember but was later replaced by Ash d’Lessey

Pregame To-Do

  • Please send a picture of you to the host by January 2nd, 2026 so she can use it to create a cast list – this will go out to all players before the game and will be taped on the wall at the venue. If I don’t receive it by then, I will find a random picture of you and use that : )
  • Make sure to read your character sheets beforehand to get familiarized with your characters (printed out character sheets will also be provided to you the day of)

What to Expect the Day Of

  • The game will run for about 4 hours starting at 5:30 to 9:30 on January 31st, 2026, it’s important to be on time (nudges woody and shay) because the story relies on every guest being present
  • When you walk in, you will get an envelope with your character sheets, any clues and special abilities your character has, character items, and money. Try to come early so you have enough time to look through the materials, settle into character, get a light snack in, and maybe take some pictures
  • Dress the part! This is a global celebrity award ceremony – think Red Carpet but don’t break the bank if you don’t have anything that fits the vibes. Remember you’re the celebrity – you set the trends
  • Act the part! You should be in character for the most part and you can always come ask the host questions if you have any (it’s also my first time hosting a murder mystery so we will figure it out together)
  • There is no set script, the game is completely interactive, every character has their own motives and agendas. You decide who to talk to, what to say, and whether to tell the truth or not. If that seems overwhelming, you can always start by introducing yourself as your character and ask them who they are
  • Have a good time!! That’s the most important thing

Game Rules

The Moderator of Ceremonies: The MC (the host) is impartial. If you have a problem or want to do something unusual, see the MC. The MC’s power is absolute – and cannot be affected by abilities!

Winning and Losing: You can achieve most of your goals by talking to people. The host will announce when the game is over. If you haven’t succeeded by that point – you’re too late! Be warned – not everyone here will want you to succeed!

Doing Stuff: Ordinary actions are resolved by simply carrying them out. If you want to try something unusual, see the host. The host will be able to tell you the outcome of whatever it is that you are trying to do.

Item Cards: Items are represented by item cards. The only items that can affect the game are those detailed on the cards. If you do not have an item card, you do not have that item with you.

Movie Bonus Cards: Some characters have Movie Bonus Cards that let them influence how successful a movie is. If you wish to influence a particular movie, you should give your Movie Bonus Cards to that movie’s producer.

Making Movies: Each producer here tonight is looking to make a movie. Each movie requires a producer, a director, actors and actresses, a screenplay – and at least $100,000 seed money. See the detailed movie making rules for more information.

Handshake deals: If you agree to sign up to a movie or an agent, the deal is made binding (i.e. contracts signed) by shaking hands. You are on your honor not to break any handshake deals – and fame comes with very rich lawyers just waiting to sue anyone who breaks a deal. Exact fees will be negotiated later, although you may sweeten a deal with whatever cash you have to hand. Handshake deals made during the first hour of the game are not binding; the MC will announce when handshake deals become binding.

Voting for Best Picture, Best Actor awards: At the end of the evening, the cast and crew will act out a scene from their movie for everyone’s entertainment. Everyone then votes on the following NAMI awards: Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
